If you’re in the market for a compact smartphone in India right now, you’ve probably noticed the surge in solid contenders. Phones like the OnePlus 13S, Vivo X200 FE, the ever-reliable Xiaomi 15, and the discounted Samsung Galaxy S24 are all fighting for your attention. But with so many options packed into that tight under-₹50,000 price range, which one actually gives you the most bang for your buck?
To find out, we took these phones through an intense testing process. We drained their batteries, pushed their performance limits, captured countless photos, and even turned to our community for honest opinions. The results are surprising — and helpful if you’re stuck choosing your next daily driver.
Now, you might be wondering why this comparison doesn’t include the iPhone 16 or Samsung S25. Well, there’s a simple reason: they’re in a completely different price category. The iPhone runs on iOS and targets a different audience altogether, while the S25 costs nearly ₹80,000. We wanted to stick to phones that are actually affordable and relevant for most people looking at sub-50K options.
First impressions matter, and design is where these phones really shine. Each one features a compact build with a premium mix of a glass back, matte finish, and aluminum frame. These aren’t chunky devices either — they’re designed to feel comfortable in your hand or slip easily into your pocket. The Galaxy S24, for example, is the lightest at just 163 grams, while the Xiaomi 15 is on the heavier side at 191 grams. But all of them feel solid and premium.
In terms of features, the Xiaomi and Samsung models stand out. They come with flagship-grade touches like an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor (which is faster and more accurate than the usual optical ones), USB 3.2 Gen1 for faster data transfer, wireless charging, and even reverse wireless charging. IP ratings are also present across the board — though Vivo impressively offers a higher IP rating than the others. OnePlus lags a bit behind here with a basic IP65 rating.
Next up is display quality. All four phones sport beautiful LTPO AMOLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates and the ability to scale down to 1Hz, making them ideal for both smooth scrolling and battery efficiency. Netflix HDR support is present across the board, which is great if you stream a lot. However, there are subtle differences in brightness and color tuning. Vivo’s display is easily the brightest of the bunch, and it boosts colors significantly. Xiaomi does something similar, though slightly more subtle. OnePlus adds some color punch too but not as aggressively. Samsung, in contrast, opts for a more natural tone but falls behind in brightness. Also, Samsung is the only one with a Full HD+ panel, while the others offer sharper 1.5K displays. That said, you won’t notice much difference during everyday use or while watching content.
Of course, none of this matters if your phone can’t last a full day — and that’s where battery life and charging matter. Vivo leads on paper with a 6500mAh battery, followed by the others with slightly smaller capacities. But numbers only tell half the story. In a real-world 2-hour 4K video recording test, Vivo finished with 70% battery remaining. Xiaomi came in close at 69%, despite having a smaller battery. OnePlus dropped to 59%, and Samsung lagged behind at 53%. Clearly, optimization plays a massive role, with Xiaomi showing impressive efficiency thanks to its silicon-carbon battery tech.
When it comes to charging, Xiaomi and Vivo again take the lead with 90W chargers included in the box. OnePlus isn’t far behind with 80W, also included. Samsung, however, ships with no charger and only supports up to 25W. That’s a big drawback in 2025.
Now let’s talk performance — arguably the most exciting part of any phone comparison. Xiaomi 15 and OnePlus 13S both feature the blazing-fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 ‘Elite’ chipset and include UFS 4.0 storage, which makes everything from app loading to file transfers incredibly fast. Vivo and Samsung, meanwhile, stick with last year’s flagship chip and UFS 3.1, which isn’t bad but noticeably slower by comparison.
In benchmarks like AnTuTu and 3DMark, Xiaomi tops the charts, though it does get a little warm under pressure. OnePlus is not far behind and stays cooler during stress tests. Samsung and Vivo trail slightly, with Samsung throttling the most during heavy workloads. In terms of gaming, all but Vivo support BGMI at 120fps. Vivo caps out at 90fps, which may disappoint competitive mobile gamers.
Cameras are often a make-or-break feature, especially in this price range. Vivo delivers consistently vibrant and balanced photos, especially in daylight and portrait shots. OnePlus often outperforms Xiaomi when it comes to capturing human subjects, while Samsung leans toward more natural tones. Indoors, all the cameras perform similarly well. However, OnePlus lacks an ultra-wide lens, which limits your flexibility when framing shots. In terms of video, Vivo again stands out with great stabilization and color accuracy at 4K 60fps. Overall, Vivo nails camera performance across scenarios.
But no phone experience is complete without solid software. All these devices ship with Android 15, but their software support varies. Samsung leads by offering 6 years of major updates and 6 years of security patches — unheard of in the Android world. OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Vivo promise decent support too, with 4+5 and 4+6 year plans. But when it comes to user interface and animations, Samsung’s One UI is the smoothest, most customizable, and most modern. OnePlus is close, featuring AI-driven tools and a slick UI. Xiaomi’s HyperOS is decent, but Vivo’s FunTouch OS feels outdated, with old-school design elements and missing visual polish.
After crunching all the data and scores, Xiaomi 15 comes out as the overall winner in this compact flagship shootout. It combines cutting-edge performance, a beautiful display, solid cameras, and reliable battery life into one well-rounded package. That said, the OnePlus 13S is a very close second. It’s slightly more affordable, keeps pace with performance, and delivers a smooth software experience — although it lacks a few flagship extras.
For those who prioritize camera quality above all, Vivo X200 FE is the one to beat. And if you’re loyal to Samsung or love One UI, the Galaxy S24 remains a solid buy — especially when it’s discounted below ₹45,000.
In the end, it’s all about choosing what matters most to you. Compact phones are making a strong comeback, and there’s never been a better time to find one that truly fits your needs.
