MotoBook 60 Review: Stunning 2.8K OLED Display, Intel 13th Gen, and Premium Design

Motorola has been launching new products rapidly, and recently they’ve added a laptop to their lineup—the MotoBook 60. Along with it, they’ve also introduced the MotoPad 60 Pro, though the focus here is on the MotoBook 60. This laptop comes with several standout features, especially when it comes to display quality and performance.

Inside the box, you’ll find a 65W USB Type-C charger. There’s no traditional barrel connector, which shows Motorola is drawing inspiration from smartphones in more ways than one. The design itself is quite attractive, especially the Pantone Green color, which includes the iconic Motorola dimple logo on an all-aluminium chassis. It looks great and feels premium in hand. The build is solid and durable, weighing around 1.37 to 1.48 kilograms. It’s light enough to carry around throughout the day and isn’t too thick either. The laptop has air vents at the bottom and heat exhaust at the hinge area. The speaker grills are located at the front, which adds to the overall design.

In terms of ports and connectivity, you get HDMI 1.4, USB Type-C and USB Type-A ports—all of which are 3.2 Gen 1. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the right side, what might appear like a SIM card slot is actually the power button. There’s also a microSD card slot and some USB ports. The lid opens easily with one finger and can tilt up to about 170 degrees. The hinge is well-balanced—not too loose, not too stiff.

The laptop includes an IR sensor for face unlock and a good-sized trackpad. The keyboard is decent and usable for daily work. It also features front-facing speakers, which enhance the audio experience. For added durability, it’s certified with Military Grade 810H, having passed 21 different tests.

The MotoBook 60 is clearly aimed at students and professionals. Starting at around Rs 60,000 and going up to Rs 85,000 for the top-end variant, it brings excellent value. One of its key highlights is the 14-inch OLED display with a stunning 2.8K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports Dolby Vision, which makes it fantastic for watching videos and consuming media. The color accuracy and richness are on par with what you’d expect from high-end smartphone screens, but on a larger laptop display.

In terms of specs, you get the latest 13th-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors—not the low-power U series, but the more balanced variants. These are newly launched chipsets, giving solid performance without being too power-hungry. Every variant includes 16GB DDR5 RAM by default (two 8GB sticks, upgradeable to 32GB), and storage starts at 512GB SSD with options going up to 1TB. It uses Gen 4 SSDs, which are fast and reliable. There’s also an extra storage slot for future upgrades.

While this isn’t a gaming laptop, you can still enjoy full HD gaming thanks to the integrated Intel graphics. The battery is a 60Wh unit, and you can expect about 5 to 6 hours of usage with regular tasks. Lighter use will extend the battery life further, making it decent enough for daily needs.

Display quality and overall performance are where this laptop shines. In its price range, the OLED 2.8K 120Hz panel is hard to beat. Dolby Vision support really enhances the multimedia experience. The speakers aren’t the best part, but they are front-facing and tuned with Dolby Atmos, which makes them better than average.

On the software side, it comes with Windows 11 Home and Office 2024 pre-installed. The Full HD webcam supports Windows Hello, thanks to the IR sensor for facial recognition. Motorola is also expanding its ecosystem with the Smart Connect feature, which allows seamless integration with other Motorola devices. You can control your phone from the laptop, transfer files, receive notifications, and more. This feature is now supported even in their mid-range G-series phones, adding real convenience.

Another cool feature is Universal Control. If you have a wireless mouse, you can use it across devices like your phone or tablet. Connectivity is solid too, with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 included. One thoughtful addition is the always-on USB Type-A port that lets you charge your phone even when the laptop is off—handy when you’re on the go.

The display also supports various color profiles, making it suitable for creators working in Adobe RGB and other color spaces. With its standout display, solid performance, and useful ecosystem features, the MotoBook 60 makes a strong case for anyone looking for a premium mid-range laptop. Its Pantone color design gives it a unique look that stands out from other laptops in the segment.

Alongside the laptop, Motorola has launched the MotoPad 60 Pro, powered by the Dimensity 8300 chip, scoring 1.2 to 1.3 million in AnTuTu. It features a 12.7-inch display and supports the Moto Stylus, which comes included in the box. The design matches the laptop, creating a cohesive look across devices.
