How I Built a Seamless Cross-Platform Setup With a MacBook and Android Phone

For years, I’ve been bouncing between different Android phones, yet one thing has remained constant in my tech setup: my MacBook. If 1Password isn’t your style, alternatives like Keeper, Bitwarden (free), and Proton Pass are great options. The main point is this: prioritize your online security and avoid using services with a poor security track record, like LastPass.

Storing Photos and Videos

For photos and videos, Google Photos is my go-to solution. With a Google account tied to both my personal and work life, I get virtually unlimited storage. Whether I’m using an Android phone or an iPhone, all my media backs up to Google Photos, keeping everything in one place.

The only challenge I face is sorting work photos from family pictures, especially since test shots often end up mixed in. While I currently manage this manually, I’m exploring solutions like setting up a NAS system—perhaps from Synology or Ugreen Unifi—to better organize my media in the future.

Smart Home Automation

Home automation is where things get really exciting. I started with Z-Wave systems and eventually layered Apple Home on top. But as anyone with mixed devices knows, Apple Home isn’t great with Android.
