The Indian smartphone market is about to see a new contender that could shake things up in the compact flagship space—Vivo X200 FE. With a smart blend of features like a powerful camera system, high-performance hardware, and a large silicon carbon battery, this phone is already generating buzz. What makes it more exciting is that it’s Vivo’s first compact phone in India, and it’s expected to be priced aggressively, setting it up as a direct rival to the OnePlus 13S.
Compact Yet Powerful Design
At first glance, the Vivo X200 FE stands out with its refreshing mint green color, though it often appears sky blue under different lighting. The phone features a vertical triple-camera setup that’s subtly embedded, giving it a minimalist look. While it may initially appear to have just two cameras, there’s a third sensor cleverly integrated into the design.
The metal sides add a premium touch, and from some angles, it closely resembles the OnePlus 13S. But unlike its competitor, the X200 FE packs a massive 6,500mAh silicon carbon battery inside a relatively thin and light body. With IP68 and IP69 ratings, durability won’t be a concern.
Brilliant Display with High Brightness
The display on this device is a 6.3-inch 1.5K LTP AMOLED panel with an eye-popping 5,000 nits peak brightness. Protected by King Kong Shield 3 glass, the screen remains vibrant even under direct sunlight. The optical fingerprint scanner built into the display works reliably, and video content looks rich and immersive on the panel.
Performance and Gaming
Under the hood, the X200 FE is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. While benchmark numbers lag slightly behind the OnePlus 13S in both AnTuTu and Geekbench, the stability is better, especially in CPU throttling and 3DMark stress tests.
Gaming performance is solid. Titles like Genshin Impact ran at an average of 59.3 FPS on high settings, and Weathering Waves was also smooth. However, the phone runs hotter than the OnePlus 13S, with temperatures going as high as 44°C. Even in games like COD Mobile and BGMI, heat management was slightly lacking. BGMI was locked at 60 FPS due to this being a Chinese unit, but overall, gameplay was fluid.
For users prioritizing performance, OnePlus still has the edge—but the Vivo X200 FE shines in a different department: camera performance.
Superior Camera Setup
This is where the Vivo X200 FE stands out. The main camera is a 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor, the same one used in the Vivo X200. Alongside it is a 3x telephoto lens with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide camera—features missing in the OnePlus 13S. The selfie camera is a 50MP shooter with support for 0.8x and 2x zoom.
Some notable camera features include AI Portraits, light adjustment, and a makeup mirror mode. In testing, the main sensor captured detailed and accurate photos. The 3x optical zoom performed well, and the 10x zoom shots surprisingly retained good clarity. Portraits had impressive edge detection but felt a bit artificial due to heavy skin smoothing.
The ultra-wide camera is just average—good for wide shots but lacking in detail when zoomed. On the other hand, selfies came out natural and sharp, offering different focal perspectives.
And here’s the best part: you can record 4K 60fps videos using all three cameras—main, telephoto, and selfie. Video footage, especially from the telephoto lens, was clear and stable. However, the camera does take a few seconds to process images, which feels off for a phone in this segment. Hopefully, Vivo will optimize this in the Indian variant, which is expected to carry Zeiss branding, potentially improving image processing.
Massive Battery & Fast Charging
The 6,500mAh silicon carbon battery is a standout feature. Even after running benchmarks and camera tests, the phone had 42% battery left after 4 hours and 27 minutes of screen-on time. This phone is more than capable of lasting over a full day on heavy usage.
Charging is equally impressive, with support for 90W fast charging. The phone charges from 0 to 100% in just 60 minutes. Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging, but considering OnePlus 13S doesn’t offer it either, it’s a fair trade-off.
Software Experience
Out of the box, the Chinese variant runs Origin OS 5 based on Android 15, but in India, it will come with Funtouch OS. There are rumors that Vivo might merge FunTouch OS with Origin OS in the future, which would be fantastic, given how polished Origin OS already is.
Connectivity & Ports
Connectivity is future-ready with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IR blaster, and dual SIM support. However, it lacks eSIM support and the USB port is on the slower side, which may be a small letdown for some users.
Expected Pricing in India
The phone was launched in China at ¥3,399, which roughly converts to INR 40,000. But with taxes and regional adjustments, the expected Indian price is around INR 50,000. At this price, the Vivo X200 FE could be a strong value-for-money option with excellent cameras, a huge battery, solid design, and decent performance.
Final Verdict: Vivo X200 FE – A Compact Disruptor
While it may not be the ultimate performance king, the Vivo X200 FE shines in its camera capabilities, battery endurance, and compact yet elegant design. If Vivo prices it right in India, this could be a killer mid-range flagship, ideal for users who care more about photography, display, and battery life than extreme gaming performance.
